Case Study: Brooke Homec
Brooke diversified her traffic, overcame technical challenges, and doubled her revenue & traffic year-over-year!
Meet Brooke
Brooke started her food blog, The Salted Sweets, in 2021, bringing her extensive baking industry experience to the digital world.
Her goal was to build a following to support a future cookbook launch. While she had significant expertise in baking, she faced challenges with the technical aspects of running a food blog.
Key Challenges
Before joining our group coaching program in January 2024, Brooke struggled with:
- Limited Technical Knowledge: “I had just kind of followed this exact tutorial to do it, but I felt like I can’t push any buttons because if I do, I don’t know how to get out of it. I just had zero understanding of all the backend stuff.”
- Understanding Analytics: “I never tracked any of my analytics. I just kind of didn’t understand any of that kind of stuff.”
- Lack of Community: “It’s lonely and I just really wanted to have a little bit more of a sense of community and people that I feel like I could reach out to for ideas or questions.”
The Solution
Through the six-month group coaching program, Brooke implemented several key strategies:
- Regular Analytics Review: Established a routine of checking analytics and comparing performance to previous periods.
- Content Optimization: Focused on revamping existing content instead of solely creating new posts.
- Strategic Planning: Started analyzing highest-performing blog posts to inform future content decisions.
- Community Engagement: Participated in group coaching calls and connected with other food bloggers for support and idea-sharing.
- Backend Management: Learned and implemented proper website techniques.
The Results
Within months of completing the program, Brooke achieved significant growth:
- 2x overall revenue year-over-year
- 2x website traffic year-over-year
- Google search traffic increased
- Successfully diversified traffic sources beyond Instagram
- Improved efficiency through content revamping strategies
“I have doubled in revenue in the past year from last year and my traffic has doubled as well…I’m grateful because now I feel like I can step back…the traffic still continues to grow at this point.”

Brooke’s Takeaways
The most impactful changes for Brooke were:
- Strategic Content Revamping: “Working on old content and kind of like revamping it is something that I don’t think I would have ever taken the time to do before, and that’s been super beneficial for me.”
- Data-Driven Decisions: “Understanding my analytics so that I can understand that I’m growing and why I’m growing and continue to try and implement the things that are working for me and let go of the things that are clearly not paying me enough to be worth my time.”
- Sustainable Growth & Motivation: “I feel like if you aren’t growing or you aren’t seeing success from it, then it’s really hard to get yourself to want to continue and do any of it…making more money is always nice and that’s at the end of the day why we’re all here.”
Is Group Coaching Right For You?
Brooke believes that group coaching can benefit food bloggers at any stage of their journey, as long as they’ve started their blog.
“I feel like there were people in all different age brackets and categories of food blogging and everybody has different strengths and weaknesses.”
Group coaching might be especially valuable if you:
- Are looking to understand the technical aspects of blogging
- Want to learn from others’ experiences and questions
- Need a supportive community of fellow food bloggers
- Are ready to implement strategic growth tactics
- Want to learn things you “didn’t even know you needed to learn”
As Brooke explains, “Even if something works for one person it may not work for somebody else but it’s also valuable information… whether or not maybe I’m implementing it right now, I have no idea where I’m going to be six months from now.”
